Her husband doesn’t want her anymore. The man next door would give up everything to have her.
Sadie Hunt isn’t perfect—but her husband is. Nathan Hunt has her coffee waiting every morning. He holds her hand until the last second. He worships the Manhattan sidewalk she walks on. Until one day, he just…stops. And Sadie finds herself in the last place she ever expected to be. Lonely in her marriage.
When rugged and sexy Finn Cohen moves into the apartment across the hall, he and Sadie share an immediate spark. Finn reveals dreams for a different life. Sadie wants to save her marriage. Their secrets should keep them apart, not ignite a blistering affair. But while Sadie’s marriage runs colder by the day, she and Finn burn hotter.
Slip of the Tongue can be read as a standalone, or as book one in the Slip of the Tongue Duet.
Slip of the Tongue eBook Jessica Hawkins
Sadie drove me nuts with how selfish she was. I liked the two male characters well enough, but none of the characters seemed realistic to me. Sadie though, I really disliked her almost from the start and all the way through. 7 perfect years with the perfect husband who bent over backwards for her. 2 months where he was cold and distant. Hi my name is Sadie and I am going to have an affair and help break up a marriage and put my own in jeopardy as well. Nathan - the husband had some issues to work through and wouldn't open up to Sadie about why. Finn, the neighbor, falls for Sadie, and since she's persona non grata with her husband, and attention is lavished upon her from Finn... it's an easy move into his arms and his bed.UGH. I wanted to like it & I did read the entire book. But to be completely honest, I really hated the female lead and the men didn't work for me either. I wouldn't recommend this book to my friends.
I am going to give the second in this series a chance because the one redeeming character from Slip of the Tongue is her brother Andrew. Let's see if he can impress me.
Jessica Hawkins writing was decent enough... my issues were with the flimsy 1-2 dimensional characters of this novel.

Slip of the Tongue eBook Jessica Hawkins Reviews
This was my second book that I listened to (I purchased the audio versioin) from this series from Jessica Hawkins. Unfortunately, I purchased out of order. There are three books in this series. Slip of the Tongue is first book of the series. I accidentally started with the last, First Taste, which was great so I wanted to read more from this author. ( 1-Slip of the Tongue, 2-Yours to Bare & 3-The First Taste).Even though these are supposedly stand-alone, I would highly recommend reading in order because they all interconnect and book three will give away the ending of book one. Okay, with that being said. After reading the summary and listening to book 3, I thought this book was going to be different based on the dynamics of the characters. Without giving too many spoilers away, this book is truly about how a married couple who has been completely in love their whole relationship has to deal with some marriage shattering events. If you are reading this and you are married, there will be some elements that really may hit home and pull at your emotional heart strings. For people who unmarried, it may be a bitter taste of what is to come in a long term marriage because let us be honest, most marriages are messy. This author paints an almost real picture of how all of a sudden a couple shut each other out and how being shut out can do more damage than the problems that they are facing.
Since the publisher does state that this story is about infidelity, I am not giving anything away that this is a major point in the plot line. Of course, this might not be everyone's cup of tea for a romance novel. Yet, the book gives great insight to what is happening in the minds of all three characters which is an eye-open. This love triangle will have an HEA, but the road to get there will be difficult and of course, not all will get an HEA in the end. If you listen to Audios, the narration is fabulous and is read from Andi Arndt who is one of the best in the industry. My only complaint was the ending was a bit rushed making it seem a bit unrealistic how the characters are able to go forward. Yet, in the fiction world, this is not uncommon. The story has to end at some point. For readers who are looking for hot romance, this still has all the elements with all the characters, but it is no fairytale.
Sadie & Nathan have the "perfect" marriage. So everyone thinks.
Sadie is lonely. Nathan use to be there for her. Now hes not. But Finn is.
Finn & Sadie can talk all day about everything they have in common. They make each other laugh and smile.
Sadie craves someone. Finn has secrets. Nathan knows Sadie's secrets.
I loved Sadie. I feel like i could actually relate to her in her thinking. Everyone has lonely times. She just happened to have Finn next door and they became friends.
Sadie & Finn are great together. Nathan & Sadie use to be.
I WISH this book would've been been more than Sadie's POV. We really got nothing from Nathan. I NEEDED more from Nathan. At some points I hated Nathan but had no idea why... b/c i literally had no idea what was going on in his mind.
I wanted to know what was going on in Finn's mind. The love he has for Sadie. I THINK is out of this world.
Overall. Fantastic book. I would love a book two.
OR
HIS POV. And I NEVER EVER EVER say that. I never want to read the second book where its only the guys POV.
This book.
I do.
OMG... I couldn’t stand Sadie! Her husband Nathan who had done everything to make her happy for the last 7 years, grew distant, spent time away from her and asked for time to clear his thoughts. So after 2 months she is so lonely she has an affair with the married neighbour Finn. He is so in love with her, I honestly have no idea why, he let her cry on his shoulder about her husband. Then the big twist, her husband has learned about her miscarriage years ago and is distant because he doesn’t know why she kept it a secret, and he is unsure if she really wants children. What a reason to pull away from his wife, 7 years married and he can’t communicate his feelings to wife in two months. Then she tells him about her affair, he gets angry for about a minute and then he wants to fight for their marriage. And so comes the happy ending. All the characters in this book. Is so unbelievable I sat shaking my head throughout the story.
Have you read through this review you probably know my feelings. It was a waste of time. Oh... it so looong and detailed too! So a lot of wasted time!
Unlikable heroine.
I still see no reason for her cheating on her husband or for him forgiving her.
