Sinclair Vinemont is the type of character that you love to hate. I’m not a fan of him at first but as the story progress, I learned why he acts like that. He’s cold, distant, or just plain mean to Stella. It’s just a façade and whether he admits it or not to himself, he’s falling for her.

Stella Rousseau… her loyalty and love to her family is unwavering. Particularly to her father, that she’s willing to sacrifice one year of her life to be with Sinclair with a contract that allowed him (Sinclair) to do ANYTHING to her whether she like it or not, in exchange for her father to avoid jail time after being found guilty of a crime.

When Stella moves in to Sinclair’s house to honor the contract, sexual tension between these two begins. It’s only a matter of time before they surrender to whatever feelings, right or wrong, they have for each other. Spark fly when they gave in to each other’s desire, total hotness!!!
Just like Stella I’m curious what’s behind the “Acquisition Ball”, why is it important to the Vinemont? So many questions running through my mind while reading this book. The mystery of not knowing what to expect will keep you reading. There are some scene that gives me the creeps, for what Stella is about to do, or rather forced to do because she’s obligated under her contract with Sinclair.

Celia Aaron was able to get my full attention reading this book! Hooked as I swipe every page and anticipating what will happen next! That’s how good the writing was! Its ends with a cliffhanger so be warned but it’s so good you want to move to book 2. I know I am!

OMG this was an amazing read. Celia Aaron hooked me right from the start. She writes in a way that has you starving to get to the end so you can find out what happens. Her characters are all colorful, and you love them and hate some of them but you can't stop reading. I can't wait to read the next book.

She unfolded the story perfectly giving you some background while moving you forward with Sinclair and Stella.

I would definitely recommend Celia Aaron's books. I know I will be stocking my library with her books.
So many unexpected things happens here. I feel sorry for Stella the things she has to endure when being the acquisition. The whole part not to know what will happened, and just the though of that some people can be this horrible and treat other human beings like that. I so hope that this don't happen in real life like this, but I'm not surprised if it does.

There are so many things that are left unanswered so I can't wait for book two and three. This is one of those books where you want to skip a page because you can't wait to find out what will happen next, but at the same time, are sad the the book is finished.
If you enjoy dark romances with a twisted plot, drama, and flawed main characters than this is your book! I have heard it is similar to those written by Pepper Winters, so if you enjoy her stories than this one is definitely worth checking out.

Overall, I really enjoyed this one. I found it to be extremely unique, engrossing, and suspenseful. I found that Stella (the main character of the story) to be very strong albeit the circumstances she was in, and quite easy to connect with. Sinclair, the main man, the man who holds Stella’s body, soul, and father’s life in his hands, is an interesting character. Readers may find themselves loving and hating him all at the same time. He is dark, brooding, sexy, and wicked. It becomes clear throughout the story that this man has ulterior motives- ones that may shock the readers and Stella herself. This adds not only intrigue to the story but suspense as well. Therefore, this is a wonderfully written, dark romance book that will have you hooked from page 1 all the way through to the end. I simply could not tear my eyes from the pages so luckily it was a fairly quick read.

While I have never read a book by this author before I can say that this one certainly won’t be my last. I can’t wait to continue on with this series as the writing style is wonderful, the story is intriguing, and the characters are perfectly flawed to the point that you can help needing to see them grow. This is definitely one of those book that needs to be read- specifically for those who have a deep love for wicked characters and dark plots.
This is a pretty good start. It is kind of similar to the Indebted series by Pepper Winters. So for those fans I definitely recommend this. Our H (Sinclair) feels he has to win this years "Acquisition" trials. (basically taking their "chosen" which are human slaves and putting them through humiliating acts. ). However, our heroine (Stella) isn't so happy about being blackmailed into being someone's slave. And she's only doing it to save someone she loves. Sinclair doesn't not seem like a good guy at first, but their are parts of him that come,through as if he may not be as cruel as we think.

Their are plenty of secrets to unfold and I'm intrigued. Moving on to book 2
